Administrator - Roading (Contracts & Customer)

Our Roading team is seeking a highly organised and customer-focused administrator to join us as a Roading Administrator - Contracts and Customer. Based in Mangawhai or Dargaville, this is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. This role presents the chance to contribute to the efficient delivery of Council's roading programme, supporting both our internal team and the wider Kaipara community.

What you'll be doing:
You'll be responsible for providing high-quality contract administration, financial processing, and frontline customer service. From managing service requests and preparing reports to supporting contractor performance monitoring and helping process NZTA claims, your work will be key to ensuring the smooth operation of our roading network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the coordination, administration, and monitoring of roading contracts and contractor performance
- Ensuring accurate processing of invoices, purchase orders, and monthly accruals for roading-related services
- Being the first point of contact for customer enquiries and service requests related to roading
- Collaborating with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure responsive and effective service delivery
- Maintaining up-to-date records, registers, and documentation across systems and databases
What you'll bring:
You'll bring strong organisational skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to juggle priorities while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
We're looking for someone with:
- 2+ years' experience in a customer-facing administrative role, ideally in local government, roading, or infrastructure
- Experience with contract or financial administration, including invoicing and claims
- An understanding of contract conditions, procurement, or tendering processes (desirable)
- Experience with database entry, reporting, and knowledge of Engineering Standards or Codes of Practice (desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a full NZ driver licence with willingness to travel across the district
