Communications Advisor
20 hours per week | Fixed term to 30 June 2027
Based in Mangawhai or Dargaville, with work from home options
We're looking for a Communications Advisor to join our team in a part-time, fixed-term role through to 30 June 2027. You'll help deliver clear, confident communications that support council initiatives and keep communities informed.
This is a dynamic role where you'll partner across the organisation to shape messaging, provide trusted advice and deliver communications that land.
What you will be doing
- Prepare media releases and support media responses
- Develop and deliver impactful communication plans, content and campaigns
- Create content for digital channels including website and social media
- Monitor media and identify issues that may impact the organisation
What you will bring
You're a calm, clear communicator with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for turning complex information into clear, accessible content. You are comfortable and confident working with elected members and senior leadership. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and can quickly adapt your approach to suit different audiences and channels.
We're looking for someone:
- with a relevant tertiary qualification in communications or a related field
- with proven experience in a communications, media, or journalism role
- with experience in government, public sector, or local council communications (highly desirable)
- with excellent writing and editing ability
- who knows how to take a good photo, video skills a plus
- who is well-versed with digital communication platforms and tools
- with an understanding of te ao Māori and a commitment to meaningful engagement
