Team Manager, Libraries

Lead the future of library services in Kaipara

Are you a senior library professional ready to step into leadership, or an experienced people leader looking for your next challenge? We're seeking a proactive and community-minded Libraries Team Manager to help shape the future of library services in Kaipara.

Based in Dargaville, this full-time role leads our largest library, supports Mangawhai Library and works alongside volunteer-led community libraries across the district.

What you'll do

  • Lead library service planning and delivery across Kaipara.
  • Manage Dargaville Library operations and support district-wide services.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, community groups and stakeholders.
  • Support and develop staff in a collaborative team environment.
  • Drive innovation, digital services and continuous improvement.

About You

You'll bring strong library experience and a passion for community service. Whether you've already led a team or you're ready to take the next step from a senior library role, you'll have the confidence to build relationships, support others and contribute to service improvement.

You'll also bring:

  • A relevant library qualification and LIANZA Professional Registration, or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or coordinating people, projects, or services.
  • Experience with Library Management Systems and digital library services.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to serving diverse communities.
  • The ability to manage budgets, support change and improve services.

Our libraries operate from Monday to Saturday, so flexibility and availability across these days will be key to ensuring excellent service delivery across the district.
